The Duggar's Break Their Silence After Arrest Of Their Son For Child Pornography

By Mike Walters

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have broken their silence after son Josh Duggar was arrested on child pornography charges.

The '19 Kids and Counting' stars claim they are praying for their son and his family and hope the 'truth' will come out in this situation, no matter what it is.

The reality stars admitted the charges against their son are "very serious" -- but would not come right out and defend him in the media.

As we reported, Josh was arrested by Homeland Security officials and charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

'The Accusations Brought Against Joshua Today Are Very Serious'

"We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time. The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious," read the couple's joint statement.

It continued, "It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family."

Interestingly, Josh's legal team issued their own statement saying they will defend the reality star, and claim "no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime."

The Duggars Ask For Everyone To 'Pray' For Their Family

"Josh Duggar has been charged in a two-count indictment. He has pled not guilty to both charges and we intend to defend this case aggressively and thoroughly. In this country, no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime. But when you're accused, you can fight back in the courtroom — and that is exactly what Josh intends to do," his attorneys said.

The disgraced reality star pled not guilty to both charges and is being held without bail. According to the judge in the case, if he is granted bail, he will have to be "in a residence where there's no minor in the home."

Josh Duggar Arrested On Child Pornography Charges

As we reported, Josh was accused in a 2006 police report of molesting five underage girls -- two of the victims were reportedly his sisters, Jill and Jessa.

"Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends," he said at the time. Adding, "I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation."

Jill (Duggar) Dillard also broke her silence on the child pornography charges, saying "We just found out this information yesterday, it is very sad." The Dillard's previously revealed they have distanced themselves from the rest of the family.
