Britney Spears is in the headlines this week after the pop star allegedly took to social media to lash out against the recent documentary on her life and the ongoing conservatorship battle, but fans are now questioning whether it was actually the star who made those comments.

It all started Tuesday afternoon when the Princess of Pop took to Instagram with a couple of Aerosmith-themed dance videos, along with a long caption taking aim at "Framing Britney Spears," the controversial documentary produced by The New York Times.

Did She Say It?

While spinning around her living room to Steven Tyler's voice belting out the lyrics to "Crazy," Britney wrote about how she has been portrayed in the media and judged throughout her life before addressing the documentary.

"I didn't watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in ... I cried for two weeks and well .... I still cry sometimes!" the statement from Spears read.

Although many took sympathy over the star for her words, there were lots of Britney fans who believe the star is not behind the social media post.

Fans Question Message

"Seems Britney is not writing this," one fan declared on Instagram while another questioned, "The documentary was SUPPORTIVE. Is this really Britney writing?"

"I doubt that Britney herself is writing this," a third person commented.

Many of Britney Spears' loyal fans felt that the documentary once again shined a light on the harsh restrictions of her conservatorship, something Britney herself has tried to get the court to loosen the reigns on. Interestingly enough, weeks after the airing of the documentary, Britney has filed documents to oust her father from his role as her conservator.

Although many of the comments on Britney's Instagram had to do with people doubting the legitimacy of her statement, others dropped by to offer genuine support for the star.

"Love you Britney! You’re a bright light for all of us! Keep doing ya thang sis," one person wrote.

"Don’t let the media get to you. Your fans what you have been through. We love you and have your back. Enjoy your life and live it to the fullest," another fan commented.
