Britney Spears is taking a trip down memory lane after her mother sent over some footage of the star before she hit it big, and the gesture is reminding the Princess of Pop that ... she ... CAN ... SING!!!

Britney has been pretty active on Instagram this week, after sharing some passionate dance videos, and other quips, during a trying week when part of her focus was on the ongoing court battle with her father and the legal conservatorship keeping her under close watch.

Sharing the video, that Mama Spears delivered, with her over 28 million followers, Britney got her fans' juices flowing with an interesting message.

"Geez … My mom sent this to me and reminded me that I can sing!" Britney captioned the video (below).

She added, "She said 'You never sing anymore … you need to again !!!!"

The video in question is from 1998 when Britney traveled to Singapore for a private showcase with Jive records, her label at the time. Britney performed three songs, while sporting a titillating LBD, including "...Baby One More Time," "Sometimes," and "You Got It All."

Reminiscing about the trip, Britney added, "I’ve actually never watched this performance … it’s definitely from a while ago !!!! It’s from one of the first trips I took alone ... mostly I just remember saying 'WOW Singapore.'"

Hidden Meaning?

The move by Lynne Spears to send her daughter a nostalgic video and remind her that she can sing is interesting, as it comes on the heels of the pop star once again pleading with the court to boot her father as the conservator in her ongoing legal conservatorship.

Britney has previously stated, according to court documents, that she will not return to the stage as long as her father is in control of her medical and financial decisions, but has been unable, so far, to have him removed.

Last year, Lynne Spears officially requested that she be privy to the information going on with Britney Spears' conservatorship and made it clear that, as the star's mother, she was going to be having a bigger role on medical and financial decisions. Lynne, who lives in Louisiana near Britney's younger sister, Jamie Lynn, has stayed close with her oldest daughter and has visited California to care for Britney in the past when things were especially tough.

Perhaps the strong reminder from her mother will be the boost Britney needs to get creative and back in the studio!
