Justin Bieber has come a long way since he was busted during a wild weekend in Miami at the age of 19 years old. The pop star took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon, 7 years after he made headlines for finding himself in handcuffs after being arrested for driving under the influence and drag racing in a yellow Lamborghini, as well as driving on an expired driver's license. The arrest, and subsequent court hearings, were a turning point for Justin Bieber as he left behind his public life of partying and causing trouble for a refocused passion on God, which ultimately led him to a happier emotional space.

Poor Life & Fashion Choices

While showing a photo of himself being led on a perp walk with officers of the Miami Beach Police Department, Justin Bieber reflected on the moment with his millions of fans ... and also honestly regretted his fashion choices at the time.

"7 years ago today I got was arrested, not my finest hour. Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at god.. I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami, Bieber wrote.

An enlightened 26-year-old Justin Bieber further explained:

" All this to say God has brought me a long way. From then til now I do realize something.. God was as close to me then as he is right now. My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you. Don’t allow shame to ruin your “today” let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be. LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART."

What Happened After?

After all the commotion around Justin Bieber's DUI arrest, his legal team was eventually able to get the charges knocked down during a plea deal.

Back in 2014, Prosecutors dropped the drunken driving charge, but Bieber had to agree to 12 hours of anger management counseling, as well as attend a program on the impact drunk driving can have on victims. He also made a $50,000 donation to the "Our Kids" organization and was put on 2 years of probation.

During sentencing, the judge in the case told Bieber:

"I hope that he realizes that his actions not only lead to consequences that affect him, but they lead to consequences that affect others who are looking up to him as a role model."

It appears those words stuck with the pop star and he has been on a positive path ever since.
